Just picked this up today, completely by surprise. Was walking past an antique shop and saw they had coins. Saw it in the case and it followed me home..

Yes I will buy a proper camera. My scans always look so terribly flat but please do get what you can from the scans.

1857-Flying-Eagle,-Grade-Please.

Thank you for looking.

I would grade this at VF-30 with a weak strike on the upper obverse. Nice coin.
Rest in Peace

I agree with shadow, solid XF-40 details. I don't see signs of altering except that the color is off a bit, which could be the photos.

The obverse legend is perhaps due to a grease-filled die.
Hard to comment on color etc because of scans don't show everything.

I agree, the coin looks as if it was partiall struck thru grease. The rest of tyhe obverse looks as good as the reverse. My grade would be only a guess, but I say EF-45. Is there a bit of rotation present?

LD- No die rotation, Just my asymmetric scans.

Something about FE cents that just make me snatch every time I see them at a bargain. Bah, who am I kidding... I am biased. When asked, I think I will say that about almost any US one cent coins...
