The only star notes I have now are 1999 through 2006. I looked through them the other day to see how many were in the issues, and they're no great shakes. One starts with four zeroes. One is kind of crisp. <<<Offer to BST removed. Please read the forum rules for buying/selling/trading.>>>
I'm looking around for a photo of the 1934D $50* I sold on ebay, but no luck so far. There's no price listed for the unc version of the Richmond version of that bill, which is what the buyer told me was the case.
By the way, at the time I sold it, I knew just enough to put it up on ebay with "star note" in the title. I assumed it had been printed in 1934, LOL. (Now I know that it would have been printed around 1949 so it's a fairly rare series, see <<<Link removed. Please see the aforementioned rules prior to posting external links by new members>>>
The ebay ad for the $50* was titled:
"1934D $50 Star Variety Richmond FRN Crisp AU Bill"
and was item #2227867089, sold at an auction ending at Feb-29-04 18:09:18 PST. (I looked it up from my email records.) It was bought using paypal for $2241 + $3 shipping, but with that kind of price, I threw in insurance, etc. I was very relieved when he got it and the transaction closed. Things like that should be in the hands of people who really care about them.
I had started the auction at $300 and it generated a lot of interest with three people contacting me within a few hours, trying to get me to sell it to them outside of ebay for a premium. (When that happens, you know you've listed something way too low.) I'm sort of tempted to take the emails, remove identifying information, and turn them into a blog post on "star notes". Most people don't know they exist.
