My mother who pasted away a couple of years ago was born in 1914. I am still going through her stuff and I found a little box of coins, all from 1914. (I bet you can see this coming).

The box contained 2-1914D, 7-1914S and 19-1914 pennies. In additions to a number of dimes, quarters, 3-halves (all 1914S) and a number of foreign coins, (no US nickles).

Thanks Mom!!

I am sorry for your loss. I am sure you have fond memories, but it is nice that she left you something extra to remember her by.

Just a quick counterfeit check- look at the lower left shoulder for the VDB(should not be there) and the opening of the D mintmark should be triangular in shape and not rounded. If you pass those two tests, you should have a few hundred dollars there

Sorry for your loss as well. The coins look good to me Great coins to pass on. You may want to get the 1914-D's encapsulated by a major TPG to ensure long term protection.

I recommend that you label these ASAP because I'm sure you consider these as very special coins and you don't want to get them mixed up with any others, just a thought.

Well, since I own no 1914 coins (US or World wide), other then those I received from Mom. I won't have to worry about getting them mixed up :)
