So I got some change back today and for some reason I looked at this nickel's mint stamp first instead of date. Saw the "S" and did a little jig in my head. Thought I had some proof here. Then I saw the 69. Bugger. Still a fairly nice condition coin. Nicks and such but no discoloration.

Just for your grading information, this is a very typical 1969 S strike with it probably never even having had any steps at all. Some people would mistake this for heavy wear, but your coin is weak to medium struck XF Jefferson with an overused worn or polished out reverse die details. Finding a 1969 S with sharp details and even 4 full steps in MS63 is believe it or not a very scarce find and worth much more than the RedBook value of the average 1969 S MS63. A 5 Step MS65 is quite rare.

That is just a case of misaligned dies I think. Not really dramatic enough to affect value. It is somewhat common.

I bow (again) to the Master of nickle knowledge wheezydog. When I saw the photos I was going to say somethign like 'that is a typical circulated 1969-S" ........ but the Master knows all the details and is able to explain the quality of the strike versus what appears to be wear. Oh ...... I have much to learn. Glad I am here with the experts. David
