Hi everyone! I have gotten some great help here in the past so am looking forward to what you can tell me about this coin. My husband picked it up at an antiques fair recently. It appears to be a penny with King George I, II, or III but we cannot make out a name or match it to pictures. We were also interested in finding out what it says on the reverse. Above Britannia, we can make out part of a word - COMMERCE? COMMONWEALTH? COMMUNITY? We're not sure! Anything you can tell us about this coin is welcome, and thanks in advance.

This one isn't a coin, it's a token. The reverse text says "COMMERCE". The figure on the obverse isn't the king, it's the Duke of Wellington (called "Marquis Wellington" on this token). http://cgi.ebay.com/Marquis-Welling...13_W0QQitemZ120469668817QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090915?IMSfp=TL090915141007r37442
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Oh, cool! Thanks for the information! He has a bunch of pennies already so is happy that this one turned out to be something different.

Google, "Part 1: The 1812, 1813, and 1814 tokens". Notice the Druid Token .I can see how it looked like a penny to you though. Is it small like a Farthing?

We took a closer look at the coin after reading the first reply we got, and now we're not sure that it actually is one of those tokens (or at least, not the Druid Token or the one linked to in the first reply). The date is in a different place than on the example linked to, it says "Great Britain" over the portrait, and Britannia seems to be holding a dove instead of an olive branch. The date looks like 1804 rather than 1814 (although we can't be 100% sure). It is about the size of a farthing, though. This is all very interesting to us as we are novice coin collectors, so thank you for the replies so far.
