I just got this coin for my U.S. type set. What do you think it graded from the pics? It has some reddish/ greenish toning both on obv. and rev.

I also posted this coin on my Type Set Thread.

A little difficult to see beacuse of the slab, but from what I can tell I would grade it AU-55. Nice coin.

I agree it's an AU, probably AU-53. The relative lack of luster I think precludes a higher grade. The hair detail is excellent but the obverse stars and Miss Liberty's bust show strike weakness which is common for Reeded Edge bust halves. The surfaces look original and the coin has a lot of appeal. You found a very nice example for your set!

This is the sellers photo which shows more of the luster. This is my first reeded edge bust half. What do you think this coins value would be?

2010 Red Book lists it at $475 in AU-50, so value is at least that.
Rest in Peace

Wow, it went up. My 2009 says $400 in AU-50. Nice coin. I especially like the obverse strike! Wanna trade? mine has COLOR!(Never mind the fact that it is overdipped and probably wouldn't make XF)

Johnny- Very tempting...I will have to think about it Mine has some nice reddish toning that doesn't show very well in the pics...

It is crazy how much the price guides differ for the same coin

2009 Red Book-Au50-$400 MS60-$1,100

2010 Red Book- AU50-$475

Numismedia Current- AU50-$420, AU-53-$528, AU-55-$600, MS-60 $1,310

July 2009 Coin Values- AU50-$600 AU-58-$1,500

... Presumably the coin is worth somewhere between $400- $1,500
