Hi!, Can someone ID what country, year & denomination would be the largest silver crown coin?. So far, I know only of 40mm for the Mexico 1951 silver 5p crown. Any silver coin larger than this? Thanks for the info...

Depends on your definition of Crown.

Some German states issued silver coins up to 120mm.
Panama 20 Balboas are 61mm.
Some modern bullion issues would dwarf either of these.

Yep. Back in the 1970's, the Franklin Mint issued "worlds largest and smallest silver coin sets" from Panama, with the huge 20 balboas and the tiny 2½ centesimos.

Since then, several larger silver coins have been made. Most notably, the 1 kilogram bullion coins from places like Australia ( Perth Mint); those are 101mm across.

Anything bigger than the largest size 2x2 holder is classified as a "maxi-crown".

Since there's nothing in the thread that needs identifying, I'm moving this to the World Coins section.

Thanks sap & DCH! that info is a surprise for me, just got my first whitman Red Book 56th edition 2003 yesterday, was difficult to locate, still sold here higher than it's brand new book price, but will definitely help in the never ending coin hunt.

Doesn't the Perth Mint strike bullion coins up to 10 kilos?
