Hi, I came across this coin album at air-tites that is designed to house coins that are in air-tite containers. http://www.air-tites.com/air-tite_coin_albums.htmAm a bit wary though because it contains plastic inserts where you insert a page that contains your coins in them. If these inserts contain any PVC on them, would it affect my coin? Note that my coin is already enclosed in an air-tite container and it's the air-tite container that comes into contact with the plastic. Thanks for all the help!

They list an email address and phone number, give them a call or an email to see what they say.

I dunno...isn't PVC safe providing the coin does not come in direct contact with the coin? I think its fine. Did you give them a call after all?

In another thread here I saw there was a test you can do to see if something contains PVC. I think it went something like this..... Take it outside and light it on fire and see what color the fire burns. Boy, that sounds useful.

This is what they said
"Hello Leo,
I have had some of my better coins in Air-Tite albums for years and they still look as good today as they looked back then, I'm sure you can expect similar results. There is no PVC in the albums.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
Thanks,

Probably due to all the fanatical remarks, emails, phone calls about PVC, many manufacturers stand ready to state there is no PVC in their products. They openly do this and if you could find PVC in their products you could file a law suite against them. Coin storage products as well as food container products do not contain PVC. Note the other thread about PVC also. And if your house contains PVC piping for your water you too may turn GREEN. I strongly suggest that is what happened to the Incredible Hulk. An here is another test for PVC. Place some of the suspected plastic over your mouth and nose. Hold it there for at least an hour. If you find you are no longer breathing, it may have been from PVC.

I don't think PVC would bother the coin in an airtite because it will not come in contact with the coin at all and the airtite is just about as close to air tight as you will get from a coin holder

Thanks for the input!
Wouldn't actually trust the manufacturer's opinion as acknowledging that their product contains PVC isn't exactly in their best interest.
Also by the time you discover that their product isn't PVC-free as exhibited by the verdigris growth in your rare coin, you wouldn't be able to hold them accountable as a lot of time has already passed.

Check the product for the manufacturers name and possible contact info. Then contact them. Then record the conversation and tell them your doing that. Then ask about PVC and if they say NO and you later find it should have been YES, then start looking forward to possibly thousands or even millions in a law suite.
