Two years ago before I learned about Morgan and Peace VAMs, I owned about 10 Morgan dollars and a couple of Peace dollars. The following is what I've done in the past 24 months to catch-up ... many would call this a disease. This is from memory while sitting at my desk at work. I know I got all the big ones, but may have missed some little ones.

1878 8TF
VAM 1(x2), 2, 3(x2), 4, 6(x2), 7(x2), 8, 9(x2), 14, 14.1, 14.1A(x2), 14.2(3), 14.3(x2), 16, 17(x3), 18, 19, 21, 23
1878 7/8TF
VAM 30, 31, 32, 33, 33A, 37, 38, 39, 40(x2), 41A, 41C,
1878 7TF B1-Rev
VAM 79, 80, 81, 82
1878 7TF B2-Rev
VAM 112, 113, 114, 116A, 117, 118, 132, 142, 145, 146, 160, 162, 163, 164, 165, 167, 168, 169, 195
1878 7TF C-Rev
VAM 200, 202, 203, 203A, 224, 228B
1878-S Long Nock
VAM 26, 27(x2), 56, 57, 59
1878-S
VAM 6, 17, 19A, 29, 36A, 36B, 50 (About 10 unattributed)
1879-S Rev 78 VAM 34, 39
1880 VAM 6(x3), 9, 10, 25, 39A
1880-O VAM 6A(x2), 7, 48(x2), 49
1881-1891 (About 15)
1891-O VAM 1A(x3), 1A2, 3A2(x2)
1892-1899 (About 6)
1900-O VAM 8A, 11, 29A(x2)
1901-1904 (About 5)
1921-D VAM 1B1(x2), 1E, 1F, 1G, 1H, 1i, 1K, 1L, 1M, 1N, 1P, 1Q, 1T, 1W, 1AH, 1AM, 1AT, 5A, 6A

Yep.. you've been bitten. Unfortunately, once you've got the bug, you're infected for good - there's no known cure!

yes it is, I remember when I first started collecting B1 Reverse morgans I thought VAM-81 was a tough one because I got a VAM-80 pretty early on already attributed but I have 3 or 4 81's and up now and am having a real hard time finding the VAM-80 again. I even emailed the person I sold mine to a couple years ago to see if they wanted to resale it but they didn't. Mine was either PL or DMPL I don't remember

Peaceman,

Nothing of great significance ... 1925 VAM 5 Missing Ray, 1926-S extra berry ( VAM 3 ?) and a couple of 34-D VAM 3's (large D). The rest are unattributed.

When I'm looking at Peace dollars I keep an eye out for die breaks and know which ones are the "biggies", but haven't found any yet.

the only Peace dollars I own is the one in my 7070 album and I have two DDR Peace dollars that were given to me awhile back. I have no idea what is doubled on these things but they are in ANACS slabs labeled as such. Everytime I look at a Peace dollar I seem to find myself waiting for a fly to land in Liberty's mouth

Speaking of the VAM-80 I did a quick search on ebay and found this....If they sell this thing for asking price I sold mine to cheap http://cgi.ebay.com/C2058-1878-7TF-...-T_W0QQitemZ310141837938QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item4835e4e272&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

SeatedNut, YGM.

Bryan, I suspect we can agree that the auction is a tad....optimistic. I don't think that the die cracks rise to the 80A level, as the seller claims, either.

I know all about this addiction. I have lately been consumed by the 8tf morgans. I love em' but I have 2 discoveries to my name as well. They are both Peace dollars. I am going to the B&M tonight to go pickin'

Remmy1100,

I see your posts frequently on VAMWorld discussion pages. I don't post there much anymore (I use an alias), but read posts often.

I too have a "thang" for the 1878 8TF, probably because you may stumble onto one of the elusive 14.xx coins and be richly rewarded. I don't have a B&M nearby to browse on a regular basis, so it's local shows and ebay for me. When I started this a couple of years ago I would frequently see VAM 8's, VAM 9's (picked up four in all), VAM 23's and a couple of potential 14.xx (they were ended early or I was outbid). Today the pickings are much, much slimmer. Over the summer all I saw were 1's, 2's, 6's, 7's, 14.1's, 14.2's, 18's, and 21's. I branched to the 7TF and -S mint coins where I see much more diversity. I have my fingers crossed on an inbound coin ... I've learned not to divulge anything until the coin is in-hand ... been embarrassed too often.

So far, I've been successful with keeping my mind off the 8TF's. Just like Lincolns, for someone with my obsessive nature it could be life-threatening.
