I found this as I was sorting out the sets I have put together. There are more areas with small dots of Die Cuds but the 25 cents area was most interesting.
In US numismatic terminology, a Cud is a specific type of die break that affects the face and shank of a die so a Cud would emanate from the rim of the coin. Anything else on the interior of the coin would just be a die chip or die break, depending on the size.
