As we were leaving for work this morning, my wife says, "Oh yeah, remind me tonight to give you some 50¢ pieces that I found at work. I thought you might want them." I was thinking someone just dropped a few regular half dollars, but when she gets home, she digs in her purse and pulls out these:  She says, "Those are the silver ones, right?" She knows what's up! 11 Kennedy 50¢, w/40% silver...I know they're not worth a ton, but can't really beat 'em at 2 for a dollar  She also brought home a 2002 Walking Liberty Silver Dollar that someone cashed in for a greenback a few weeks ago! |

Nice find! At todays silver price they are worth $2.39 each! You ought to check out the Half Dollar roll search topic! You would be amazed at the silver finds if you do some searching!

hippiebrian: LOL! No, unfortunately nothing too "lucrative"...just customer service stuff where she deals with people and their money. People will spend the darndest coins though and luckily my wife is smart enough to cash out the good ones for regular ol' pocket change for me :) ratman4762: Thanks! I wasn't sure the exact value, but I knew they were worth more than 50 cents each! I've briefly checked the roll search topic, but I'll definitely have to drop in there again. I'd love to be able to buy some from my bank and see what I can find, but I really don't have the extra money to do what those guys do! Then again, I guess it's all spendable, so it's really not costing anything...hmmm... **Also...oops, sorry...I just realized I posted this (and my Lincoln Cent question) in the "classic" forum instead the "modern" one. WOW! Great find! I pulled out 5 silvers out of a $50 lot of halves the other day(one of them 90%) and was soo excited. Sure, it's not a lot of money, but it sure is a lot of fun!

Believe me when I say cash is tight here too! however, I keep enough money in the bank to pay the bills and the rest I keep with me to buy half dollars with! I make it a point to check the banks anywhere near my destination, as well as taking road trips to different towns anytime I can. Some days are better than others! My personal best find at one bank was (60) 40%, (17) 90% and (8) Franklins! I'm always looking to top that one! |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I did have a little extra this weekend...don't know if you saw my post in the JFK roll searchers thread, but I struck out big time! 8 banks and came home with basically nothing. I'll keep trying, but it was dry out there on my first attempt...not just no silver, but no rolls period! That's a heck of a find you had though...congrats!
