I often see that a list of individual coins are offered for sale and then there is nothing posted and they sell, or simply somebody will post "PM sent" and I have to wonder which items was the PM about.
Are they asking for pictures in the PM, whether they want it or not or if a sale is made is unclear and leaves everyone else hanging.
I do believe it would benefit the seller and others interested in buying if people would post at least PM sent about such and such a coin. I think that the seller should immediately post when an item is SOLD. To be honest, I just don't inquire anymore unless some communication is made on the board or at least when a coin is sold it should be marked as such.
Hey, I take the time to look over a sellers listings, the least they can do is keep up with it. I don't like showing interest in a coin and sending a PM and then find out that I'm too late but nothing tells me that in the forum post.
Since this is a forum, I feel all that is offered for sale and trade, once posted, needs to be done above table.
Also if someone is looking to buy, they should post when they find what they wanted and end the topic.

This post was read 50 or more times without any opinion or comment.
I was hoping for some feedback. Tonight I got an email about a couple coins I was interested in getting images of and was told they were sold and others moved to auction. The buyer saw my post about the same coins and asked me if I knew anything about them. The buyer has not received them after paying and inquiring about the status over 11 days ago.
There is a lack of what transpires as per information in these BST and Auction forums. Maybe it is just me.
I spend most of my browsing time monitoring a few areas. I scan the latest 100 posts and look for nickel posts or anything that catches my eye. I visit the BST section a lot. I play the contests, I occasionally remember to look at who is having a birthday or family discussions and I am committed to contributing nonsense in the never ending story saga.
Maybe there are a handful of people check out the BST and the rest could care less. I just wish that people would be clear on what they are doing, what sold and to whom.
IMO "PM sent" is not a sufficient response, and I feel it is unfair to others who are left to wonder. It would save a lot of email and time if people would do the business in plain sight so everyone could be better informed.

I think I may have been guilty of this once or twice, . I'll remember to post more, and hope others will do the same and make it easier for all!

Most people who have a post will update it when things are pending a sale or have sold. I don't see all the posts, but that's been my experience so far. If they are not doing so, then they definitely need a reminder to do that. It's simply common courtesy.

I try to keep any for sale sections I post up to date. I prefer people to ask questions by replying to the post but I understand some are more comfortable with a PM. to the post reads xxx for sale, pm sent, pm replied etc. I try to mark items pending if interest is shown and sold when items are sold. Strange though it may seem I do have a life outside the forum so it could be a day or two before things get updated..

All good points. I try to update the post to indicate I received what I bought, etc. That way, everyone can see the complete transaction took place and in a timely fashion.

Thank you fellers, I sure was lonely in here. I guess it merits a little mention.

I think you should move this to the Selling forum, it'll get more attention and views. I never used to pay attention to it, but now it bugs me now.

I have somewhat of a different opinion on the PM sent topic. Some prefer to keep private transactions private. Negotiations and offers are kept in private for several reasons such as: Not wanting to pollute the thread with back and fourth confusing other potential buyers. Offers for creative finance such as trade or combination offers that would require pictures can be a mess to post in someones thread.
There is always the potential for low-ball offers too, those that might want to try low-ball offers but only under the radar as so not to be seen by the general public. But I think this is a much smaller percentage of the reasons why some prefer to keep negotiations in private.
I like the transparency in operation by keeping dialog in the sale thread itself, but it often becomes cluttering to the thread for others once several trade offers are presented making the thread more than a single page. So if I had to choose one method of another as a blanket method. I would pick the PM sent for sake of keeping the thread streamlined. It also avoids the possibility of creating collusion mucking a thread with too much opinion or outside input from the peanut gallery on items for sale.

Wheezy,
I hope you are well, you have a very good point and while I understand some of the stated concerns of others, this topic is just the tip of some very confusing and frustrating problems I see in the auction arenas, be well, Mike....
