This set went on sale today. According to the Mints site, this set is limited to only 25,000 sets. I am surprised it has not sold out yet?

The 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar is limited to a production total of 400,000 coins across all product options. The Braille Education Set is limited to a production total of 25,000.

There will be less of this set than the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set, yet people said the Lincoln set will sell out in hours.

I ordered one... Did anyone else get one? Only one per house hold!!

I guess I am just wondering why this has not sold out yet. Seems like a pretty rare set if you go by the numbers

I haven't ordered one and really don't plan on doing so. this set really doesn't mean that much to me to order it and I don't think it will sell out for some time because there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in them. Just because its a limited number doesn't mean its going to be the next big thing, it has to have collector interest to become popular enough to sell out and I think those numbers are a little high to make them interesting enough to have collector appeal over the ugly coin factor

You can purchase the uncirculated or proof version cheaper from the Mint, so your basically paying more for the packaging and still getting the same commemorative dollar...although sometimes the package can make a difference in resale value if that is your intent. I have never sold a coin nor do I ever plan on selling any of mine.
But ...."never say never" huh

I have noticed the same thing... Coins vs Packaging - There are plenty of coins out there that you can buy cheaper, but when there is a limited packaging included the price seems to jump.

If you want to get a Braille Dollar, this set is what you should get.

The Braille Dollars themselves most likely won't sell out, but this
set just might. Even if it doesn't, it's still far more limited in
production than the standard Braille Dollars. (and if it didn't sell
out, there might end up being less than 25,000 in public hands!)

Like daviscfad says, the limited number of this set
would make it more attractive to Commemorative collector
'completists' than just a Braille Dollar alone.
