I saw this one coming folks so here it is.

Today the mint raised the price of the Ultra High Relief to $1439. Nearly $400 over current spot for an ounce of gold.
They've produced plenty of them and the "high grade" numbers just keep increasing.

So I did a bit of digging on ebay and I found this auction that ended 4 days ago.

Now isn't that something? You can get an NGC slabbed MS69 with all the trimmings for less than the mint price if you play your cards right.

Now it IS a nice looking piece but you know what it really is? A terribly overpriced ounce of gold.

Had the mint not raised the llmit from the original ONE it might be a different story.

Ads in the current issue of Coin World Magazine have UHR going for $1,339 slabbed NGC MS69. The price may have gone up a touch but I'm sure they'd still sell you one for under $1,400.

Remember that the ads you see the the Coin World were submitted a couple weeks ago. If you called the dealers you probably couldn't buy the coins at those prices and it is hard to say what price they would quote today.
