WAM"S or Wide AM's refer to the reverse of a penny. up until 1992 the a and the M in america on the reverse, the bases weren't touching. then they changed it in 1993 and now they are. But, on the proof versions of the one cent coin, the die was made with a Wide AM even after 1993, and so there are die varieties, called wams. A WAM occurs when a proof die, is accidentally placed to strike a business strike coins that are supposed to have the Close AM reverse, so.... in 1998 1999 and 2000 there is a Wide AM variety. the most valuable is the 1999. Got it? :)
(edit) be sure too check for the 1992 and 1992d for Close AM's as well :P
