I..... Found something I think I might have to buy. I know I've been asking a lot of questions here but this is the last one for a few days.

Is this coin going to go up in value. In other words could I justify dropping $90 this possibly for Christmas as an investment or is it going to drop sharply when the silver price levels out. I'm still new to coin collecting so I don't know how to tell a good buy from a bad one.

I just know that I really like this coin.

Australian coins like these are hot at the moment, but as an investment, with this particular coin, I think it will be quite a few years before you would see any kind of significant gain. I don't see the price dropping with silver as the price really reflects the novelty of the coin. I'm not criticizing your taste as I also collect Australian coins like these ex: Lunar series 1 and 2, and The treasures of Australia series. If you really like the coin I think $90 is justifiable as with most coins like these I buy first to enjoy them for myself and second comes any thought of market gains.

This coin is still available from the mint, and has been available for some time. I don't see it gaining in value quickly and would expect to be able to buy it for less than issue price on ebay next year. If I were you, I would wait.

The Australian Series are extremely popular with collectors right now. Many of these specialty series have low mintages, plus the high demand=high prices.

Just take the Kookaburra Bullion Series. These have a relatively low mintage per design of 300,000 vs. Over 10,000,000 ASE's per year...
