I'm helping a friend of mine start a businesses it's a government surplus/camping/hunting/military gear businesses. Well also have survival and emergency gear soon and out website will be up and running in a week.

He collects coins and bullion as well and he suggested that we offer silver quarters on the site. As an impulse buy item to include in an order and if you buy over a certain amount like $100 or so well include on free. I'm skeptical about it but I think were going to buy a roll or two jut as a promotional gimmick. Worst case scenario we have a larger silver collection and we right it off on our taxes as a loss.

Is ebay the cheapest way to get a role of silver quarters and what do you think a fair re sell value is.

Also how would you prefer it sent/pacaged if you bought one or got one with an order.

I think with all the hype and fear tactics (not implying your doing it) but many people really do fear that we will be back to trading in precious metals instead of government backed coins. They are convinced they will need bullion as part of their emergency checklist.

A roll of silver quarters would go well as an option for survivalists emergency supply checklists.

Best place to buy would be from a local coin shop, just commons 1964's are are cheap and plentiful. Never seen any physical coin shop that didn't have a bucket of them as melters for __X face value of the silver market.

I don' know if there is a coin shop in my part of Ohio but I'll Google it

I do see a lot of people buying bullion for survival preparation but It doesn't make a lot of seance to me. Your buying it at peak prices and if there was a situation ware you had to trade in silver what would be the value at that point.

I like buying silver but only because I like it and no other reason.

Hey MrGlass...I deal in antique military items, and surplus militaria, perhaps we can do some trades for silver if I have anything you and your friend might want.

Spot price on a roll of silver quarters today is $128.00.
Expect a fair price to be between $122-$135 for the roll.

APMEX.com For my silver purchases.

Remember you can only offset a business loss from profit however you can carry over a business loss for up to three years.

Sounds like a decent gimmick to attract customers. Of course if your sales really takes off, you would have to hurry and find a source for cheap Silver Quarters. Naturally the down size is you would only attract individuals that are interested in Coins. And in some instances you may loose customers. There are always those that realize or think products are increased in price to pay for such gimmicks and advertising.
For the purchase and disposition of such coins I suggest you also try Google for a coin show in your area. Not sure where you are but in Illinois we have a coin show every weekend around me. Greatest place to do such buisness. Also, at a coin store you could explain what yout doing and possibly get a real decent price. Also, some dealers may actually tell you to also try other coins and then they could unload the ones they have that are not great sellers.

Hopefully your carefull. At a coin show an individual walked up to a dealer with a bag of Silver Mercury dimes. Asked how much as was offered melt for them. I know that dealer so asked at the next show how that worked out. He mentioned there was over 500 Dimes in that bag and 4 of them were 21's and 21D's, many 31D's and just lots of other valuable ones. About half ended up in flips and now on his table for sale. One of the 21's, sitting there now, had a price on it for $600.
Hopefully you did check those out carfully.
