Hi, all!

I just joined up last night after coming across this community for the first time.

Not only am I new to the forums, but also to coin photography, but I started my retirement recently so now I hope I can spend more time practicing.

A review of my Photobucket albums shows that so far I've snapped fewer than fifteen coins. I use an Olympus Camedia D-545 Zoom (4 Mp)which fortunately lets me grab some pretty good shots because it has a nice SHQ setting as well as a "Super-Macro" feature.

Here's my rig, with the first three coins I shot to follow.

A month or so ago, I found a small copystand at Adorama. Will be using that from now on. As you can see, our kitchen counter was the stage for these photos. For lighting, I believe all I used was the fluorescent stuff from under the cupboards above the counter. Can't remember if I bothered with the camera's own flash...I shoudl eb taking notes, huh?

I'm full of questions, but I'll save them for other posts. Just wanted to introduce myself and see what kind of feedback you all have on my first coinpix. (More introductory stuff, including what I collect (mainly Dalton silver) in the post I did last night on the newbie thread...

Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Tom

In my opinion, those are nice pics. The pictures seem to show the detail of the coins well, and they aren't blurry, which most of my photos are. And nice coins too, even though I mostly collect U.S stuff. And to the community.

I agree, those are nice looking pictures especially from someone that says they have not done much coin photography
