I just found this on the opening page of the Mint's catalog page. Because of all the ordering problems, the Mint issued an apology to its customers who tried to order the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set yesterday.
To Our Valued Customers:
Unfortunately, the United States Mint Web site did not perform as expected when the popular 2009 Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set went on sale at noon Eastern Time on October 15. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration many of you may have experienced while attempting to purchase this and other products using our online catalog.
We did not meet the standards of excellence we have set for serving our customers. You deserve a better online shopping experience, and we are committed to resolving these issues quickly and permanently.

Interesting. All told, it was actually better than I expected. I expected the worse; that is, I expected to not get my order in.

 This was my first US Mint ordering experience ..... logged in at 3:24 .... created a profile at 3:27 .... and had my order in at 3:30. received the confirmation e-mail 25 minutes later ... Order # 33194xxx. Tell the truth I was surprised by how well it worked. David

They drove me absolutely insane yesterday. I logged on at 11:45 and tried for 1 whole hour to get it to go through. I kept timing out and ended up getting through on the phone and ordering. It was a horrible experience. On a side not, if you phone in an order, will it show in your order history online? I got the confimation email and all, just no order history.

You can search by order # and last name and it comes up!

how do we know if we actually got our order placed in time and will actually receive the item or if we have ended up on the wait list
