It's only a month away now. The final 2009 Lincoln Cent release in Washington DC. Is anyone making plans on going? Does anyone want to go but can't? Does anyone really care anymore? Maybe I should have made this a poll. Comments....?

I went to the second release in Indiana5-14-09, I would like to attend the last at Washington on the 12th of November, Tough neighborhood.
I was pleased with the 2nd releases rolls I received( 36 ) for my son and I each. I do not like the amounts being given out at the 3rd release, while I was told some received 36 rolls, 3-trips to the cashiers, I also heard the suppliers were out of coinage in less than 4-hours. I am not sure if I will attend, If I do I would like to make a deal with Mr Moy about that large cent representing the coin being released, I wonder who got to take the 1st 3 home?

I wish I could attend. It would be fun to attend just one. I will order the set from the mint.

Morgans Dad, I'm not sure what you mean when you say your not pleased with the amount of rolls given out at the 3rd release. I've been to all three releases so far and the 2nd and 3rd both let you get 6 rolls per person per pass through line, and you could get back in line as many times as you wanted, at all three releases. And of course with so many collectors and ebay hounds, they are going to run out of rolls eventually. They can't bring the whole mint with them.

Huh? You were allowed to get six rolls at a time and could get back in line as many times as you wanted but obviously you had to go to the back of the line to start the process again. I was late getting to Springpatch and arrived right before the ceremony began at 10am and I would estimate I was in the last 5% of the line. I ended up with 24 rolls after standing in line in 85-90F temperatures for 3 hours- I had to work for those rolls and ended up with a nasty little sunburn in the process. NO ONE went without in that three hour period- if you were in line, you got your rolls. I was told that Chase Bank had 50,000 rolls available and I would estimate that 2500-3000 people were present. I also saw a number of people get their six rolls and then leave. At the end, the line was only 1/3 as long as it was at the start. Quote: that large cent representing the coin being released, I wonder who got to take the 1st 3 home? I saw it being packed into cases along with the backdrops and stage setup, I would assume all of that was Mint property and was headed back to DC with Moy.

I have been to the first three and will probably go to the next. It will be just about a nine hour drive one way.

Do you guys know where it's going to take place? I'm assuming at the Mint and Rayburn like last time, but I can't seem to find anything concrete other than it's on November 12.

Does anyone know if there are going to be other first day release locations? I made it to the first two but this one is a little far for me to drive that time of year (about eight hours). I'd like to get some rolls at face early but if I have to drive 16 hrs and stay over somewhere I think I'll wait to the banks get them. The distribution seems to be getting better. I have no problem getting the 2nd and 3rd release at local banks.

Normally I would not go out of my way to attend one of these things, but I live in the DC metro area and it's extremely easy for me to get anywhere in DC anytime since I'm very familiar with the city. The problem is, I don't see any information anywhere on the details of the ceremony. Does anybody know where it is or what time it is? I have to make arrangements to leave work for a couple hours if I want to go.
