Hi All:

A seller has put a large number of world coins--as well as the IHC linked below--on ebay today. In each listing, there's rather dubious wording, not helped of course by being a little 'lost' in translation. It reads as follows:

"Beware if the bids do not reach a fair value of the currency, before the expiry of 12 hours of the auction will be removed from sale, for acqusirla always make a good offer."

This is pretty much word-for-word translation from the Italian, minus "(for) acquisirla" ('(in order to) acquire it').

Seems like the seller is trying to hold open a backdoor for him/herself in case they don't like what they see happening. Does this constitute abusive listing, per ebay's rules?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
-SCS

Yeah that sounds like CRAP to me... Sounds like they're trying to avoid the costs associated with having a reserve price - I say Screw them! Report it to ebay... Enough complaints and ebay will do something about it; ESPECIALLY if it looks like sellers are dodging ebay fee's!

Nothing seems to get their attention faster than 'Racism' and 'Fee Dodging'!

I don't think they can remove it after having a bid though?

Yes, The Seller can cancel the auction at anytime he wishes! (Even with bids).
Quote:
before the expiry of 12 hours
The Seller is also well aware of the fact that it is allowed as long as auction is ended more than 12 hours before expiration (without repercussion from ebay).
