This one caught my eye. Upon closer inspection I found doubling all over the reverse legends. I know there is a rare obverse double die variety and am wondering if this is something similar on the opposite side?
Anyone aware of what it may be worth in this condition?
Thanks! =)

Thanks, I studied some large pictures of the DDO variety, the doubling has exactly the same shelving look. Is that possibly also really Machine Doubling then?

Machine Doubling can happen even on doubled dies. It usually is distracting though.

Unfortunately, you are incorrect about the doubled die obverse which has nice doubling when you know what to look for.
What does not show well in the pictures of the 1976 D obverse DDO is the depth involved with both hubbings. The lettering is duplicated on the DDO whereas on your coin, the lettering is "smooshed" so to speak with the letters actually being misshapen and damaged.
The reverse that you showed is classic Machine Doubling.

Thanks,
Bill

Coop - thanks for that explanation and great photos. Makes complete sense to me now. =)

Would this have any value besides 25 cents?

not really, unless somebody finds it attractive, and wants to pay you over face, but probably not. I would say spend it, or keep it to remind you what Machine Doubling looks like.
