I have heard from a source that there are a few 1993-D Lincoln Cents with missing or very weak mintmarks? Has anyone in this forum heard or seen this error on the 1993-D Lincoln Cents or any of the Lincoln Cents from 1990 or newer? I am aware of the 1990 no S error on the proof coins, but I am not aware of this type error in regular circulation coinage? Thanks!

I have heard of some from the late 90's, 98 comes to mind. They are known as "ghost" mint marks. From what I have read they abraded some "D" mint dies to remove the mint mark and then used the dies to mint "P" mint coins but they didn't get rid of the "D" mint mark totally. There is even some known 98 WAM's with a "ghost" mint mark.
