Picked this up today and thought to myself, piece of cake! I didn't realize how many or difficult this would be on the 1921. There are so many cracks on the reverse that I'm lost. Can anyone sift through the die cracks on this coin? If not no worries, I have a headache from it. nlp

None of the cracks, on their own, are large enough to cause a variety designation. I don't see any of the other pickups which would make attribution easy for this coin; at this point it's down to the painstaking, microscopic examination of potential doubling through stars, date and legends. Only fun if you're obsessive.

Do you have another Morgan to compare the reeding? If the reed count on this coin is noticeably lesser than another Morgan, it's a feature we can get traction with.

Exactly what superdave said... I would add the reason those crack are not "listable" is because until a crack graduates to a break, it is just a die marker. So look for the full blown breaks, because the cracks do not count.

Thanks guys. I got the whole stack of 21's out and looked through them and found several similar to this one and a couple with worsened conditions also. This coin does not have the wide reeding. The bright side was I found a VAM4 and VAM3B. Woohoo! I'll get some pics up later. nlp
