The dot on the obv. is not a die chip, it looks deliberate. The mark by the date on the rev. looks like a gas pocket to me.

I wouldn't want to rule out chip right away...but that's a pretty uniform chip and interesting location.
The next step would be a really close up shot, and comparison to the other dots in the legend.
