I have a uncirculated 1991 American Silver Eagle. It bears no mint mark. I have read that all uncirculated never had a mint mark. Is this correct? From 1999-2000, they were produced in both Philadelphia and West Point. But, I can't find which mint(s)produced them in 2001. It's too bad hey didn't identify the specific mint. Anyone know?

Thank you.

You have a bullion Silver Eagle, they are commonly referred to as uncirculated but that describes another Silver Eagle product sold by the Mint. The bullion versions(without mintmark) are only sold through a dealer network, you cannot purchase them directly from the Mint unlike the Proof and Uncirculated(burnished) versions. Both of those have the W mint mark. The bullion Eagles do not have a mint mark and they were minted in Philadelphia from 1986-1999 and West Point from 2000-present.

Thank you biokemist6 and vermontensium. I really appreciate it.

Personally, I think this coin is the most beautiful of all.

Close, from 1986 through 1999 the were struck at whichever mint had surplus capacity. So there is no way to really know what mint it came from.
