Anybody ever check out Heritage's auctions (http://coins.heritageauctions.com/)? I just signed up and am tracking several auctions. They let also you enter your coins in a "My Collection" application which is kind of nice. It will compare the value of your coins to several different price guides and you can check out realized auction prices for the same coins of the same grades. Their images are the best I've ever seen too, especially when viewing with the Macromedia Flash plug-in (honestly, they aren't paying me for this!).

The downsides? Well, the 15% bidders fee sux and their auctions always seem to be about three weeks out. But I don't think anyone would have to worry about their integrity.

Just thought I'd mention this as another alternative for folks that like to buy online.
Rest in Peace

I receive Heritage's auction catalogs in the mail. Beautifully done, but Heritage tends to caters to high end collectors, so with exceptions, their coins are (or will be) out of my price range. At least with Heritage, they review every coin before listing it thus guaranteeing an accurate description. I agree, the 15% Buyer's Premium is a killer, but if one is bidding on a rare high end coin, price is no object.

Yep, most of their stuff is pretty high grade, but right now I'm tracking a common date SLQ in AU 58 so they do have some collector coins.

What I also found kind of neat was that once you enter your coins in "My Collection", it will show how many of their members (subscribers?) have that coin, in that condition, on their want lists (which is another feature they have). So I guess it's up to the the members to consign their coins for them to come up at auction. It's probably all the fees that inhibit people from doing that I s'pose.
Rest in Peace

My problem is that I've reached the stage in my collection that the only way I'm gonna fill the holes is with lots of zeros after the dollar sign. I need an 1856 Flying Eagle cent to complete the series. One of these in P-0 condition that got run over by a locomotive is gonna cost thousands. I'm trying to drive a Cadillac on a Volkwagen budget. I just receive a Bowers and Merena catalog the other day: ONE 1856 FE listed. You know that's gonna go for $30K-plus. With only about 2500 minted, the buyer's premium will be irrelevant - too much demand, not enough supply.

I have bought many coins from Heritage and actually have two on its way from them now. I admit that they cater to the higher end collector but I have found quite a few coins on there that I just couldnt find elsewhere and some that I just had to have for my B1 reverse Morgan set (where the population was 1 of 1 for the grade) and I didnt care what it cost as long as I had the money it was going to be mine. I have even at time sold a couple coins I had in my collection (that was alot easier to find) to raise money to buy one coin that was very difficult to track down. The coins I have on the way are two B1 reverse Morgans that are unattributed as such and when they do get their attribution they will be the TOP POP 1 of 1 of that series thats been graded by both NGC and PCGS with none higher in any grade so if you are as focused on one certain thing as I am in this situation you do what you have to do to have the best set possible and I find heritage just has alot of the coins others just dont have or atleast I cant find.

Heritage is funny.

They occasionally offer nice selections of Ancient Coins in their ebay Liveauctions. I bid and won some last year which put me on their mailing list. They send mailsso frequently so I unsuscribed.

Just today, I received a catalgoue from them in the "real" mail sent via priority post. I can't escape, lol!
