I've held about 20 of these over the years and haven't been able to find one "before" the operator began filing down the obverse around the face. Gouges look best in an early die state rather than in late die state. This example has the cleanest looking gouge I've found. Sorry a little out of focus, took a quick one before sending her off to PCGS, currently ANACS 62.
