Here's the pic:
New-Acquisition---A-Zeppelin-Thaler

and here's the ebay auction.

70 euros may sound like a lot, especially for a coin with a CV (KM#67) of US$85 in EF, but I've yet to see one for sale on ebay (from a seller that accepts paypal) that went for less than 100 euros. It's got a couple of tarnish spots on the other side, but I'm more than pleased with it.

The story: in 1929, the German airship Graf Zeppelin became the first aircraft of any kind to circumnavigate the world. in 1930, the Weimar Republic issued these coins to commemorate the event.

In pre-WWII Germany, 3 mark coins were known as "thalers". The thaler in this instance was a pre-decimal German coin, issued by Prussia and several other German states prior to unification.

Nice historical coin.

Keep in mind German unification was in 1867 or 1871 all depending on which historian you want to accept.

Germany keep using the term Thalers after unification to help the people in the currency transition.
