I sold some gold last week and decided to give Teletrade a try and I'm glad I did. I picked up these 3 Lincolns for very fair prices even with the buyer's premium.

All are in recent PCGS slabs. Please comment.

First is a 1909 VDB:

Next is a 1916:

Last is a 1930:

I hate grading through slabs...but...I'll give it a shot. They all look MS-64 RD. The VDB might be a 63, I think I see a few carbon spots.

Thanks Thad. The VDB went for 63 money but graded a lot higher.

I'll post the results tomorrow night.

Okay here are the grades:

VDB: MS65RB

1916: MS64RB

1930: MS66RD

I thought the 1930 should have gone 65 and probably would today because of the reverse hits. The 1916 is as close to full red as any RB I've seen.

I did some reading in PCGS' grading guide under MS coins last night and pulled their five criteria: marks, luster, strike, toning and eye appeal. I still think the 1930 benefited from pre-2009 standards being lower.

Now that you posted better pics, I can understand the grading.

The 1916 is a darker red, thus the RB. Considering the large hit on the head, the MS-64 makes sense.

The 1930 has a nearly flawless obverse, strong luster and great eye appeal. The hits on the reverse aren't enough to over come the quality of the obverse, thus the 66 grade.

As for the 1909, with the better pics, I can see why it got a 65....looks pretty much hit-free. The carbon spots don't hold it back much when there's no hits. NICE COIN!

I was thinking that the 1930 looked like a proof.

Thanks for the comments. After not buying any Lincolns since last winter, I was happy to get this group.
