I went to a local shop today and bought a complete set of Mercury dimes minus the 16-D. I think I got a pretty good deal, as many of the later dates are AU and some of the earlier ones are pretty nice.
As most of you probably know, I was working on a set of Mercs when I bought this, so I upgraded some of them and switched some of the coins around. The set I was working on will probably be on the BST section in a couple of days. So what are your opinions on this set? I definitely need to upgrade some of them, but overall its not a bad set. The 21 P and D are in the G/AG range. Thanks.

there is a coin in the 16-d slot, but I cant quite make it out. Is it a genuine 16-d? Nice set!

Thanks for the comments, Johnny and coinyoungsta. There's no coin in the 16-D slot, the page behind it makes it look like there's a coin in the 16-D spot. I wish there was though.
Rest in Peace

Ahh, I see. Very sneaky! Someday.... Very nice set, and I agree that the 21 and 21-d appear to be G+ in grade....better than mine.

I like the set...looks nice overall! Depends on what grade you want the set to be in as far as upgrading, but it's definitely a nice looking set. Much better than most of mine, especially the earlier dates

Really nice to get so many at one time and then only try to upgrade little by little. However, you did fail to mention the price. That could make a big difference in what we all think. Nice that you did get the 21, 21D and 26S. And another sleeper is the 31D. Most people for some reason do not realize that the 31D is the 4th lowest minted coin in the series. Eventually people will realize that and the prices on that one will fly upward.
Now here is my pet peive. Those Whitman Folders. Get those coins out of there. Purchase an Album. The rear of those slots in that folder are loaded with glue from the manufacturing process. When that glue get damp, it sticks to the coins and is of no real advantage to the coins condition.

And don't forget to turn over that 45S to see if it's a micro S.

Thanks for all the opinions and advice. I paid about $275 at my local shop, my dealer had two complete sets minus the 16-D for sale. I thought about it for a while and then gave in. I was buying thew Mercs in little quantities at a time, and I figured it'd be more cost effective to just buy the whole set at one time.

The coins are in a Whitman Album, but I ordered a Dansco, it should be arriving soon. Sorry carl, I know your preference for Whitman. Hopefully I'll be able to purchase the 1916-D soon. I'll probably have to settle for one in FA-2 or if I wait a little I can probably get one in AG.
