About 11 to 2:30; crack was so big the coin looks like someone put a bead of solder across it! The line starts between the teeth along the edge on one side and ends right on the edge on the other.

A lot of coins from British India were restruck all the way to the 70's when the practice was discontinued. It is possible that this coin is a restrike and was struck using old dies.

Did the mint authorities give us any way to tell restrikes from originals?

They didn't just restrike old British India coins at later dates they also restruck Australian pennies and halfpennies in the 1960s (from dies used in 1942-43). These restrikes now sell for $40,000 a pair.
