1. 1885O VF-VF+. There is quite a bit of hair worn above Liberty's ear. The reverse, appears like the breast is flat. The head feathers and wings appear strong yet. That is why I added the + in there. 2. 1885-AU There appears to be a little wear above Liberty's ear on this, as well as the next. 3. 1886-AU 4. 1921 au58-UNC Cannot tell if there are weakly struck spots of wear. 5. 1922-AU55 Although the coin appears pretty sharp, it also appears to be lacking some luster.
I am by no means an expert. Let's see what others say.

Can you explain the difference from AU and BU, I have had a hard time finding this information. Do you know why these coins were marked BU?
Thanks again for all your help!

AU=About Uncirculated with various wear showing (described in detail in various grading manuals)
BU=Brilliant Uncirculated (usually minor wear, perhaps bag marks, bright Mint Color), but are not Proofs.
I'm sure that the "experts" on grading will have a much more detailed explanation...and perhaps even different than mine. Go for it guys. These are just the simple basics that I look for and then get more detailed.
The BU? Apparently whoever owned or sold the coins either thought they were BU quality/hoped they were or didn't know better.

I've only found information on the AU but I hadn't been able to locate what the BU stood for. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

Jen, AU is still a circulated coin even if it is "almost uncirculated" whereas BU is absolutely an uncirculated coin (as others have mentioned, "Brilliant Uncirculated" meaning Mint State as issued by the mint albeit with post-mint bag marks, the number and quality of which will determine the MS grade). Sellers mark such coins as "BU" simply to entice unaware buyers who believe as gospel what a seller has written on the 2x2 holder or in a coin's description. Just because it is written doesn't mean it's true. There are a LOT of unscrupulous sellers who will label almost any circulated coin as "BU" to trap the unwary. A fundamental purpose of this forum section is to teach the difference between circulated and uncirculated coins to prevent such entrapment. Unfortunately, many buyers will purchase such a mislabeled coin thinking they got a deal and will not be aware they have been defrauded until they try to sell it themselves or show it to a knowledgeable numismatist, often many years down the road. I've appraised collections in which the owner's father (or mother or grandmother or etc.) bought many years ago what they thought was a mint state investment coin and saved it as part of their estate only to have their children learn it was a very common circulated coin of little value. This information is often a heart-breaker among family members following the death of someone who thought s/he had invested for their children's future. Put another way, if you want to see a LOT of circulated coins labeled "BU" by an unethical seller and a LOT of unsuspecting buyers who don't know any better, see the coins offered by estatedoctor: estatedoctor's "BU" coinsFred
