Even with the small rub in the obverse field, this is the nicest Edward cent I have ever seen. These photos were taken through two layers of ICCS plastic, but the luster and color still shine through. http://www.victoriancent.com2011 & 2025 Fred Bowman Literary Award Winner, 2020 J. This coin actually looks nicer in hand. 100% red.
ICCS MS-65 Red. I suspect PCGS would cross this one as is.
Just for papeldog, the "07" was re-punched.

Regarding PCGS, I have about a six or eight large cents in other holders that I would like to see if PCGS will cross. Sometime in the next few months I will put together a grading order to them.
For the past three years or so, PCGS has been the toughest grading service on mint state Canadian cents. Much tougher than ICCS, CCCS, and NGC. CCCS is about even with PCGS on circulated large cents. ICCS is a little less conservative on the AU and less. NGC is the least conservative across the board.
Bottom line is I expect some of my coins to cross and some not. In the end it really doesn't matter, they are all very nice coins. I am happy to be their caregiver for a few years.

Hi Bosox,
Why in the world would you want to cross this to a PCGS? It is worth more in in an ICCS holder. PCGS is harder on a RED designation but ICCS is harder on an MS level.
How do you find these things in Boston? You have trouble finding them in Canada.

Steve,
The best of both worlds is to cross it to PCGS, then get the ICCS ticket re-issued. Also:
1. I hate the ICCS ridiculous plastic holders.
2. If I sell before I croak, or my kids have to sell after me, a cross-graded holder is better. If I cannot get it cross-graded, I think a properly graded PCGS holder will be better in the long haul.
3. I think I understand the Canadian spirit of liking a Canadian grading company (ICCS), but in my opinion their performance over the past few years doesn't warrant the loyalty.
4. I grew up in Maine, hence being a Red Sox fanatic, but I now live near Los Angeles. I go to a several Canadian coin shows each year. I know, and have been a customer of, most of the Canadian dealers in higher grade coins for a few years now.

Hey Bosox, before you croak can you put me in your will for the '07 , MS-65 Large Cent. It's an identical sister to my I.C.C.S., 1905 Cent. Glenn glenzy1@live.com

Hi Bosox,
I agree with you completely that "The best of both worlds is to cross it to PCGS, then get the ICCS ticket re-issued." and I have several large cents like this. As to "Canadian spirit" of loyalty to ICCS, I am an American working in Canada and I don't own any copper coins in ICCS holders (which are indeed "ridiculous"). I only buy PCGS and especially NGC large cents because you can get a lot better coin for the money, if you are willing to look around. But, with the same indicated grade, ICCS goes for substantially more money. I have not done an analysis for large cents, but if you try to overlay the population curves for proof-like Canadian dollars, ICCS is about 1 grade tougher than the American equivalents. I suspect the same is true for copper, but I have been told by people who specialize in copper that there are a lot of "cleaned" large cents in ICCS RED holders. Not so for the American equivalents.
