Clean Morgan W/Sonic Cleaner? - Coin Community Forum

just carl Bedrock of the Community United States 20753 Posts	Posted 11/28/2009 11:33 am If you do a search on this forum for cleaning coins, coin cleaning, Acetone, sonic cleaners, etc. you would find as a general staement, DON'T CLEAN COINS. Regardless of the solutions, material of the coin, or just a desire to see a coin shine, just not a good idea to clean them. In most instances they come out just a cleaned coin and sometimes worse than when you started. Report this Post to the Staff
Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6381 Posts	Posted 11/28/2009 4:02 pm I'll sidestep the clean/don't clean debate and just mention that I once used an ultrasonic cleaner on a worn Indian cent. The ultrasonic action apparently removed not only the surface dirt but also altered the patina for the worse. The coin ended up with a lighter, washed-out appearance that overall was less attractive than the original. Report this Post to the Staff
