I just bought two raw coins, the first is a 1834 Capped Bust Half.
I don't mind it being dark, since so many were copies and so many are cleaned, I wanted an original type coin.
It was graded by the seller but I want others opinions.
I looked at a lot of these over the past week and this one seemed to be about the best I could get for the money.
Whatcha think? Thanks.

Never graded one of these before, so I'm probably way off, but I'll say VF-30.

Oh nice and crusty. wheatguy's VF30 grade sounds about right. Not enough detail left for EF40 but maybe VF35?

P.S. Please change the thread title from 1934 to 1834.

The obverse is VF-30, the reverse is a little better so it might slide to VF-35.

LOL Thanks, if it were a 1934 date I think I'd be a victim of the Chinese mint.

You guys are right on.
I think it goes VF-30 myself, unless it looks better when it arrives in hand. The slight scuffs on face and the lack of detail in lettering in PLURIBUS keep it from VF-35.

This nice original 1834 Bust Half Dollar has nice eye appeal, along with
great color and surfaces. O-102 R.1. Grade: Nice VF
Rest in Peace
