This one has the arrows at the date and an open 3.

Cool! (At least I think so!)

From our CCF U.S. Coin Facts (left Navigation menu):

Seated Liberty Half Dollar General Grading Standards

G4 Good - Scant rim. LIBERTY on shield worn off. Date and letters readable.
VG8 Very Good - Rim fairly defined, at least three letters in LIBERTY are evident.
F12 Fine - LIBERTY complete, but weak.
VF20 Very Fine - LIBERTY mostly sharp.
EF40 Extremely Fine - LIBERTY entirely sharp. Scroll edges and clasp distinct.
AU50 About Uncirculated - Slight trace of wear on Liberty's breast and knees, head, claws, and wing tops of eagle.
MS60 Uncirculated - No trace of wear. Light blemishes.
MS63 Select Uncirculated - Some distracting contact marks or blemishes in prime focal areas. Luster may be impaired

From the above, I would go with F15. The LIBERTY is complete but I just can't call it "mostly sharp".

Sometimes I find that on these, liberty might be weak but the overall detail is much better, which should play a role in determining the grade IMO. And it seems to anyway, I've seen coins slabbed VF-30 with weak liberty that had much more detail on the eagle and drapery than F-12. That being said, the overall detail is at most consistent with VF-20 anyway, but that's not ALWAYS the case.

Here again I'd say VF details - cleaned. Be careful and don't pay a lot of money for these.

A well circulated, 136 year old, silver coin will be more grayish or toned.
