Hello again,
after the posting of the cents and 50 cent pieces, I decided to post the whole collection. I can buy it... BUT, for how much.. it is tricky I think..
any opinions? suggestions etc? pricing?
If anyone wishes me to see better closeups of certain coins, please let me know.

That sure is a great collection. I have no idea but I'll guess at a quick glance not opening a book. How about $1,100.00 USD? Lets see if if I'm high or low. Probably low depending on dates and grades. You have some nice higher grade coins there.

I would price out each coin at book value using conservative grades, then offer 40% of that price. This will leave you some margin to work with for resale of those coins.

You are a competent grader......grade then, offer 50% of Trends (as any dealer should do) :-) Picture does not allow grading......distorts upon enlarging. :-(

Yes, same here done locally, 40-50% of book value and it's a haggle for the rest. the 1871 and 1907 50cent coins are very nice coins, surely the first to go

I think 65-75% of the book value would be a fair offer to start with. I would not go more than 80% of the book value of the whole set.

gawdOwns, quality certified coins can be had from major auctions for about 65% of book value, which includes the auction fees. Prices (of about 65% of book value including shipping) are similar on ebay. These are uncertified coins, and some of them may have problems that will be apparent only with the coin in hand.

ok, trends is ok... BUT not when buying to make a buck......
I think I will drop the deal as the seller wants 3,300 Euros, about 5200 Can $ or about 5000 USD.....
Now, if the 1871 would be a 50.....
what do you all think?

Oh I see! hhbkiddo if that's the case, buying inventory stock for resale, then go for the real haggle and source out at lowest possible price. At the end, it's your customer's who will benefit with your turn around at relative low price.

a re-stock inventory worth 3,300 euros is no joke when the turn around is still up in the air

"so Trends is no good?"

If this is in reference to CCN trends, then I have no idea as I do not have that pricing. I haven't used it for years now as I use pricing from auctions ( ebay and major auctions) and have done this for years now. If trends lists auction prices (i.e., wholesale prices - which reflect a discount of about 35% to 40% from full retail prices), then 80% of trends would probably be okay. But if trends lists full retail pricing, then paying 80% of full retail for an item you hope to resell will not work, as the best you can hope for is about 50% to 60% on an auction ( ebay or otherwise - and sometimes much less).

HHB, with out individual images, I am hesitant...i.e. If the Large Cents are cleaned? If those are scratches on the 50 cents? If the 1907 NFLD half has been dipped to death? An awful lot of if's. Just my thoughts. :-)

yea..... I will be in europe in the spring.
the seller is in NO rush and ddoes NOT need the $.
he has a collection of German colinial coins in Proof.... DOUBLE...
the 1894 German New Guinea Gold coins, 10 marks and 20 marks, in Proof are worth ONLY between 40 and 50K Euros.... never mind the rest of the set in proof... and the double....
Met him when he bought one of my German New Guinea 5 marks in proof.....he outbid everyone....they are rare... and I mean rare... even in VF30..
He also has the paper monies from that time./.. makes me just .. well feel inferior,....
plus he has others....
He invited me to see it all aftyer some great wine and dinner at his home in Duesseldorf.
so, shall we wait?
