Could one of the more experienced member please PM me about a 19th century (and some 20th century) US coin collection I'm buying. I need some advice but don't have any research material at my fingertips since I'm deployed.

If you can use this forum, you should be able to use the numerous other locations where prices of coins are shown. Usually they are just overly done by about 20 to 25%. The PCGS web site has one of those inflated coin price guides. Similar is the Numismedia web site but not as inflated. Your best places to find out what a coin is really worth is how much they are selling for on ebay. Also, there are many on line dealers that list prices of their coins. If you need a list of them, use the search tab at the top of this page for coin dealers, coin stores, etc. Good luck and let us know what happens.

That's what I've been doing right now, and normally I would just post a list of what's in the collection, but since it's still pending, I feel awkward posting it on an open forum where the seller could potentially see it.

I've got a Greysheet & Supp from Oct '09. Greysheets are available on-line pretty cheap.

I'll send you a PM.

PM replied. Be very cautious with a collection like that. Some of those coins are worth next to nothing (face value really) and any tokens or private mint pieces are not coins and are valued much differently.

Good Luck!
