Welcome English Matt. You seem to have done better than the rest of us on finding current coins. Care to tell us your secret? What county in the UK do you find these coins? Did you happen to keep the 2008 old reverse 50 pence coins that you have seen? According to The Royal Mint mintage figures which only go up to 2008.....only 700,000 of the Britannia 50 pence pieces were made.

Alganbagerap - thanks for your offer.. it is greatly appreiciated. I've sent you a PM. Kena - Yes indeed, 2008 Britannia reverse 50p seems to be quite rare, and going to be rarer too. I've bought the old type 2008 set soemtime ago from Portobello in London. Now it pays to buy that set earlier, I suppose.

I have found the 2008 Britannia reverse 50p in circulation. I also purchased the both the old style and new style 2008 sets from The Royal Mint in 2008.

Anyone else found 50p 2008 Britannia in circulation?.. it is pretty rare with 700,000 mintage. I haven't been able to find one yet, and guys, I haven't been to the UK since november 09. Will dig the circulation in the UK by February:)

You got the scout one without any muck on it!! The only ones I ever got had stuff over the queens head, very strange.

I have a Uganda 500 shillings that I got as a 1 pound in my change..and a sierra leone 1/2 cent that I received in my change as a 1 penny coin...I also have the 1 pound dated 1998 which is not in circulation but I got it in my change! so that means someone broke up a set...so there must be a 10 pence 1998 circulating somewhere (that coin was also not in circulation for 1998)

ABSOLUTELY nothing useful!... My trip to the UK back in late February 2010! Just found a couple of 2009 Bu pennies and one 1988 Gibraltar 1-Pound and 1 1988 (low-mintage royal shield) 1-Pound. Only the latter was intresting. Haven't seen one of them in circulation before. Yikes :-S
