I'm looking at a Seated Liberty Half which has a die crack (around 1/2" long on the reverse), does this detract from the value or might it be considered a plus?

In my opinion, it adds a bit a value. It gives the coin personality.

It's a purely subjective thing, and you'll find people on both sides of the argument. Me? Yeah, I likes me some die cracks.

SuperDave the Die Crack Addict! I agree with Moe, gives the coin some Personality! I don't think they add or subtract from the value!

If the crack were diagnostic of a rare variety then it would add value. Otherwise I would think that it neither adds or detracts from the value.

If I had the option of buying similar coins, one with a die crack and another without, I opt for the cracked coin.

Way to many differences of opinions on that one. I've seen many people that would not even consider a coin with the slightest problem and say it is a problem coin. Contrary to that is the now ever growing population of error collectors that would gladly pay extra for such coins. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
