Die Crack, Added Value? - Coin Community Forum

The_Duke Pillar of the Community United States 1745 Posts	Posted 12/03/2009 5:15 pm I'm looking at a Seated Liberty Half which has a die crack (around 1/2" long on the reverse), does this detract from the value or might it be considered a plus? Report this Post to the Staff

Otherwise I would think that it neither adds or detracts from the value. If I had the option of buying similar coins, one with a die crack and another without, I opt for the cracked coin. I've seen many people that would not even consider a coin with the slightest problem and say it is a problem coin. Contrary to that is the now ever growing population of error collectors that would gladly pay extra for such coins. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Report this Post to the Staff
