I agree with you Buffaloboy5 and toast, so my vote has been changed from undecided to NO.
You just don't know who is out there these days.

Hi Buffaloboy There have been younger collectors on our forum for quite sometime now, with no reported problems at all, None !!! Your not the first teen to be here with us , and hopefully the number of young collectors will grow,, This forum is heavily Moderated that in itself is a deterent, not a guarantee but definitely it would not be easy for a preditor to operate openly or for long here. The Moderators and Admin are always available and open to communication from forum members,in fact we encourage it !! we do not allow certian language , or personal comments or attacks. Be assured that every effort is made to protect all of the members here, and as we mature as a forum I'm sure that this effort will become even more refined and effective. Please believe me when I tell you that the other Mods, myself and Admin talk often , To us your safety and enjoyment of the forum are paramount. Rick

I personally don't think an online predator is going to go to a coin forum looking for action (so to speak). There are a million other sites that young adults frequent that would be more suitable for that type of mind. One also must keep in mind the media has the capability to over dramatize a duck pooping in water so I would suggest everything be kept in perspective. This is a pretty safe forum heavily laden with adults with families and believe me when I say "All posts are moderated continueously!!!

I guess that my only major concern was how rapidly and without question that I received the home address of one of our young enthusiasts. I had not been a member for very long. I'm sorry folks, maybe I've just seen the other side of the coin (no pun intended) for too many years to keep a clear perspective. I'm thinking more of the safety of these young folks collections and privacy than anything else. It's one thing to read about these tragedies on the news and quite another to see them, photograph them and bear witness to them. Please forgive my instinct to be quite protective, and perhaps overly so. It's easy to believe that "this couldn't happen" and that there are many sites with our young folks where it's perfectly safe. I reiterate that I trust our moderators and concede to the majority.

I think buffaloboys coment was a perfect example of why we should have a YN section. buffalo boy made a good point in a badly spelled way.I think that a yn section is a good spot to relax your gaurd, if your a YN. I am by no means saying that I am any better than ANY other person on this board, I simply think that a place where spelling errors and whatnot could go unnoticed.

if a YN area is created, it should only be accesable to minors, moderators, pillers of the community, and people with over 200 post. there should be young "deputy YN moderators" who have only limited power over that board and report to 2 or 3 upper echelon "deputy YN moderators". this takes the work away from moderators, and prevents pointless emails to moderators from lower echelon "deputy YN moderators"

Hi FYI
Thanks for the comments,, One question ,, How do we know who is a minor ?
This is one of the questions that we need to answer before we have an area seperate from the main forum for the YN's.

Thats the problem Metalman. Anyone can say " I'm 13 , I'm 14 or whatever. Also no one knows how old you are unless you tell them. There is no meter or anything that says how old everyone is.

to prove you are a minor, you could send a pic. of your school ID, or your birth certificate, or, (if you have one) drivers liscence to a certain moderator, if it was a real pic. , sent by snail mail, it whould make it much harder for anybody to get into this area as a minor, than say, myspace, or some other forum.

OK, I'll send in a pic of my kid's ID. Or, one of these: http://images.google.com/images?q=s...&sa=N&tab=wiThe more I think about this, the more steadfastly I stand against it.
