I found this statue of liberty $5 gold, metal detecting Hawaii beach.
Does being in jewelry (on chain) limit it to just gold value?

If gold keeps going up. I am thinking about selling a couple finds like this to buy better coins.

I guess I am asking if .. would a coin like this ever be worth more than gold vaule.

I really, really need to start metal detecting. HHHmmm maybe I will ask Santa for a detector.

Depending if the bezel made any marks on edge of coin, it may affect it's value. But hey, it's still found gold.

This particular coin will not be hurt by being an ex-jewelry piece because the $5 Statue of Liberty gold coin is only worth bullion price anyway.

I've got one in a PCGS PF69DCAM holder that I bought for $240 last spring (melt at the time).

Many classic gold coins have been reduced to bullion value by being ex-jewelry pieces though.

Very nice finds!

I guess that is what I wanted to hear. Now to decide if .. and when to sell off a gold coin like that (when gold might peek) and maybe buy a couple nice coins for my type set ... been wanting a nice Oregon trail.
