Assuming the coin is properly graded and with no problems, I would say you did just fine, somewhat below the the normal market price.
The 1931-S Buffalo is a semi-key date to the Buffalo series. According to my research, the 1931-S has a solid record of price appreciation, especially over the last dozen years or so. This good performance is due to a genuine demand from the collector class.
