Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to buy them straight from the mint and they're now sold out. Are they going to make more or is that it? Checking ebay it looks like I'll have to pay nearly tripple what they cost from the mint. Should I go ahead and get it anyway? I don't mind paying the price as long as I'm not being had in the end.

I was at a coin show in Minnesota this last week end and the Chronicles sold for $140 per set. They are no longer available from the US Mint, so you will have to purchase in the secondary market. If you really like the set and plan to keep it for a long time and you can afford the price, I would purchase a set. I prefer local coin shows to ebay. Good Luck Snick

No more sets will be made, but they can be found for under $140. I have an extra set I'd sell for well under that amount.

The mint only made 50,000 of the sets and that is it. No more. Part of the limitation is that they only kept 50,000 of the legislatively limited Lincoln Commemorative Dollars aside for these sets.
There has been speculation of the long term value of these sets. Some say they will remain high or increase again, others feel it may cool off in a few years. My gut tells me to get one now. The "street" price may not go down, but I think the availability will shrink some (driving the auction prices up).

I recently sold my three sets on ebay for 112 dollars (i listed that one incorrectly), 138 dollars, and 137 respectively. I purchased the sets specifically to sell. I own all of the coins that came in the sets outside of the chronicles set, so I figured I might as well take in the profits while the prices are up. You can buy all of the coins in the set seprately for less than $50, so if you just want the coins and dont care about the packaging id stay away from the chronicles set. -XoG

I bought 2 sets & sold them both.
I can see where they would be a good deal at the issue price. They were just a few dollars more than buying the coins separately & the package was attractive. However, I don't get the whole idea of paying 2 to 3 times the issue price just because they are in a fancy box.

Well Christmas is just around the corner and an elf told me you might have a special present on the way.

Quote: Well Christmas is just around the corner and an elf told me you might have a special present on the way. Wow! That's generous of you but that would be a pretty expensive Christmas present, and I really don't mind paying you for it. At the very least I would insist on sending you something in return. What city and state are you in? I'm in North Carolina near Fort Bragg. PS: This post marks 1000.

Bryan, you were right. My email filtered it and spit it out into the junk folder. I went ahead and retrieved it and replied. Cheers!

I think USArmyParatrooper is the one who deserves the pat on the back for what he does day in and day out for all of us who live in this Country. There is nothing I could do that would say how grateful I am to each and everyone of them who are willing to lay their own lives on the line for all of us to be safe and keep living the quality of life we are all accustomed to. Even though it seems allot of people forget sometimes when they are complaining about the Government or anything else we all need to sit back to remember that the freedom we enjoy didn't come free and it took allot of brave men and women like USArmtParatrooper for us to live this life we do each and every day
