After finding a pair of twenty dollar bills at a gas station tonight, I went to my regular little store and bought two rolls and a $1.00 scratcher . I gave the scratcher to the cashier and she won two bucks!
Got home and ran through them. And came across the most unique Lincoln ever!
I'll get more picts in the next day or so but . . . .
This 1983 D just looked like a damaged cent. But after looking closer it leaped out at me that another date exsisted underneith "LIBERTY"! Although a tough photo to take, there is very clearly 1981 D that is backwards with no affect to the letters above it! You can see the'D' under the word LIBERTY. And theres lots more elsewhere too. Including the reverse! ! !
I am sure there are some words and questions , so fire away. And hurry cause I can't take the wait! !
(Probably just junk like so many others but very exciting! !

Interesting.. mind getting a straight-on shot of the obverse? The close-up shots look like the date is incuse, but the full shot it looks raised, with other elements of the design everywhere.

Definitely a zinc planchet, then, not 82 and prior copper.

Post-strike damage. Two Cents were squashed together outside the Mint.

I don't think so Mike, the 1981D is under liberty and liberty is not affected where the two collide. Ill get better picts up soon

I agree with Mike. The coin is mashed between two coins. Tis a "clunker"

Thanks,

How do you explane the fact that there is no damage to the letters in 'LIBERTY' where the numbers and mintmark supposidly hit them? The numbers in the 1981 are much taller and wider (stronger ) than the weaker/smaller letters in 'LIBERTY'. It seems to twist perceiption where the reality of physics don't budge. I will take much better photos, and do my own experiment and get back. Oh, and I am listining to you guys. thanks

if the date is backwards it has to post mint plus the two dates are to far apart someone just pressed them together

No real mystery, here. The incuse impression is weak. For whatever reason, narrow design elements tend to resist compression. You can see this with genuine brockages that are weak. There's a 1970-D nickel toward the bottom of the CONECA website's homepage that shows this. https://www.conecaonline.org

I agree with the others, for what it's worth. This coin shows damage and nothing else.
