What I the deal with the premium on the 2008 proof sets. I buy a set every year and last year I didnt thinking I could purchase it later and now they are $20-$30 above retail price!

For some reason they sold out early last year which was very unexpected.

This is nice to hear for a change......I'm glad I got a couple of them !
Too many times, it seems, it's lucky to hold "issue price".....if not even falling below that in value !

KEEP CLIMBIN' UP THERE BABY !

supply and demand. certain proof sets are cheaper now than when they were released...2005 was, not sure if it still is. 1980's and early 90's are cheaper or the same price. But then again look at the 1999 and 2001. I'm with eaglefoot ...keep on climbin'.

It is probably high because it is the last year of the State Quarters and there is some demand increase from people wanting to finish off their sets. It is also the last year of the regular Sac dollar, and the last year for the Memorial reverse cent. That's a lot of lasts. I strongly suspect that in a few years its price will drop back down though.
