Finally found my first 1960P LMC Small Date Cent!

I've found DDO's/DDR's/Transitionals etc and yet it took well over 2 years for me to finally find one of these.

Why is it so difficult to find this coin ?

First of all .... congrats!

Two years is a long time waiting .... I say a well deserved find at last!

My theory ..... it's a tough find because it happens to be my birth year .... 1960 .... and the aliens sucked up all the small dates and replaced them for me with good looks, charm, wisdom, and empathy for fellow frustrated roll searchers.

That's my story .... and I'm sticking with it.

Over a million coins searched, and well over 200 rolls of 1960P cents searched...never found one. STILL haven't found one.
Rest in Peace

Still looking too. Many 60 D small dates & 1960 large dates. Hopefully eventually.

Because most of them were bought by the bag and by the roll back when they were new. They were stored away for later because people knew at the time that they would be more scarce. I would estimate that fewer than 10% of those produced ended up in change, and of those, most are gone now because they are 49 years old. This is why it's FAR easier to find them in BU than in circulation. I have three BU rolls of them....and have NEVER had one in circ.

I have 8-10 rolls of these things. My dad was collecting around that time and snapped up as many as he could. I think the anticipation of it being hard to get in the future caused people to hoard them. Kinda like the 50D nickel.

I've been searching cents for more than 40 years and in all that time, I've only found one. Thats 1, Uno....It is one of the toughest coins to find in rolls.

Nice Catch!
