Given the portrait, I'd say somewhere not too far removed, in time or place, from the other one. My internet connection is probably going to timeout before I find any more info, so I'll post this before I disappear.

Nope, spent some time staring at the pic and reading the references I have, but I haven't been able to find out much more. The date is either missing or in the worn-aaway part, which would have been handy to help ID. The only name I can read on it is "Mohamed" (left side of second-bottom line of reverse), which for the Islamic series isn't very helpful - most of them have "Mohamed" on there somewhere.

If I find anything else, I'll let you know.

Gave up on the books and tried Google; found a very similar coin listed on this site; the tenth one down on the page: Nasir al-Din Artuq Aslan, atabeg of Mardin, 620 AH (= 1223 AD). Looking that up in my refs, it's listed in Stephen Album's "Checklist of Islamic" as A#1830.7, with a rarity rating of "scarce" (not really rare, but not common either).

There's apparently a specialist book by Spengler and Sayles covering these "pictorial Islamic" coins.
