Poll Question
There comes a time when all of us , no matter how valuable our collection, will have to decide on how to liquefy/get rid of 'em! Of course it's a fact of life, yes we are all going to pass away some day and we can't take 'em with us. So that leaves us all with the inevitable question, what are you going to do when you retire from collecting? Below is a list of choices, choose one, and tell me why?

I AM taking them with me -- bury them with me! Several of my copper coins already have corrosion, so they won't mind. Seriously though, I say pay off the girlfriend's bills ( slightly more worthwhile than burying them!)

I am so very fortunate to have retired early while I still have my health and energy to be able to enjoy my hobbies. I have the greatest little grandson and in 4 to 5 years when the time comes to upgrade to a new ATV ( All terrian Vehicle ) for him I have a coin that will be placed on the auction block so him and grandpa can go riding together..

I have no "plan". I deliberately and premeditatedly choose to have no "plan". I'm certainly not planning on ever "retiring from collecting". If I'm planning anything, then I "plan" to keep on collecting until I can no longer do so, physically or mentally - at which time I suspect I will no longer care what happens to them.

Circumstances will dictate what happens. Ideally I'd pass the collection on to one or all of my 3 kids. If they don't want it, I'll sell my coins and figure out what to do with the cash.

I would probably sell them. It would be nice to pass your collection on to someone in your family but I don't no of anyone in my family that would appreciate it and carry it on. So I would rather sell what I have in and estate auction and hopefully someone who really enjoys coin collecting will end up with it.

I've got 40 or 50 more years before I need to make that decision, but probably I'd sell them and save the money. I definitely wouldn't pick the dream car option as I'd be much more interested in buying a $100,000 coin than a $100,000 car!

The only way I can see myself selling is if I desperately needed the money for something, and even at that, I'd probably be peeling up the carpet and selling it at a garage sale before I'd let the better stuff in the collection go.
They're my little works of art, I appreciate them for what they are, not for what the book says they are worth.
I found it really hard to pick a single choice, but I voted for "help pay for retirement costs" if I had to pick something probable, though being 20+ years away from that point makes it hard to say.

Retirement? I don't believe in it. I'll retire when they pry my cold dead hands away from my coin collection.

All I have to say is if my daughter wants the cash from my collection when I'm taking the big nap, she's going to have to sell them!

Pass 'em on to my next 'o kin. I inherited both my Grandfathers and great uncles coin collections. Doesn't seem right to sell them, but pass them on too my son, or nephew. Besides, I have all there land and investment portfolios if I ever need the money.

Sell them off in retirement? Never, that is when I plan on being able to get the really good stuff However, in the inevitability of my passing, I do plan on thoroughly educating kids/grandkids about what they will be inheriting. If none of them show any interest I may have to alter my plans but surely at least one of my progeny will take an interest in the shiny round preciouses.
